-ferred Mr. F. A. Cordeiro, 4th. Clerk in the Harbour

Office, to that Department, where he will at present

draw a salary of $920 a year, rising by annual incre-

ments of $60 to $1,600. This arrangement is, of course,

temporary, as no permanent settlement can be made pending

the report of the Committee which is considering the

classification of the salaries of subordinate Officers.

10.

Finally, I have to report the re-

signation of Mr. P. H. do Rozario, the First Clerk in

this Office. Mr. Rozario will in next May have completed

27 years' service in the Colonial Secretary's Office,

and I regret that failing health has made it necessary

for him to retire from Goverment employment. In consider-

ation of his long and faithful service, I have granted

Mr. Rozario 2 months' leave on his full salary of $170 a

month, in order that he may complete a term of 27 years'

service and draw his pension accordingly. As his succes-

sor I have, pending the further reorganization of the

Staff of the Colonial Secretary's Office, appointed Mr.

P. Julyan, Clerk in the Public Works Department, at a

salary of $150 a month. Mr. Julyan will also draw $30 a

month as Clerk to the Clerk of Councils. The additional

expenditure involved is more than covered by the lapsing

half pay of the Assistant Colonial Secretary.

11.

The subordinate Staff of the Colonial

Secretary's Office is, therefore, at the present moment

composed of the following Officers.- P. Julyan (salary
